MINISTRY UPDATE

Exciting things are happening and we love to share GOOD NEWS in this challenging days. Thank you so much for your prayers for the Hok-Tek Church in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. We talked with them this week and it was sooooo encouraging to hear how God is at work as well as prayer requests for those in need.

There are many families in need in the community surrounding this church building. 18157817_1329892003726373_2142320089657414864_nThere are many children, young people and adults who are in need of help and encouragement. We are so excited to see the ways that this church reaches out. Holiday events in the park next to the church building, rollerblading classes for children in the community, disbursement of basic staples for those in need, visitation . . . well all kinds of things. It’s really is exciting to see God at work.

Recently, we reported that one of the members and her staff opened up a new bookstore in the area. That definitely is a prayer request. It has all kinds of creativity poured into that MINISTRY. Prayer for them as they reach out.

One of the newer members in the church is GD, a young married with two small 18342812_1887428334616276_3793304420233405896_nchildren. They have opened an Italian noodle restaurant. Not only that, this very energetic and 18527607_1905968366095606_280823808997737894_npassionate young chef has also brought another young adult into the church who is gifted in music. The Hok-Tek Church is LOADED with young adults, and it is so exciting to see them grow up, date and marry and reach their friends for Christ. Pray also for GB and his fiance as they plan to marry. She is to be baptized soon. GREAT NEWS! They are both hair stylists and have been very involved in holiday events to give haircuts to those in the community. Like I said, this is a creative group.

This summer the church also has a camp planned in one of the schools in their community. Summer is a pivotal time to reach out to students. Pray for them as they plan and minister.

The church too is finalizing plans to pay off their facility. How exciting! Pray for all entities involved as they move forward.

Also a special prayer request. BK had breast cancer a number of years ago, and following surgery and therapy she always has challenging issues. However, recently she had a bad infection in one of her arms. Please pray for her following surgery last week. We ask the Father for complete healing. She is a precious worker in this Hok-Tek Church.

Well, we could go on forever bragging about these diligent and precious friends, but we can’t help sharing what God is doing! Thanks again for taking this journey with us.

IF NO MOM . . .

You know, GOD IS LOVE. Why would I say that? If we boil everything down to the most basic statement, we all have to admit that we P01-130526-aa1have a biological mother! However, if we are totally transparent, we would all say that not everyone has a positive connection with their mother or even has a connection at all. On a day like MOTHER”S DAY, I am drawn to think of Yang Hsu (楊煦). dubbed “the father of orphaned Aboriginal children.” The Christian Mountain Children’s Home was founded  by Pastor Yang and his wife, Lin Feng-ying (林鳳英) in 1955 in the then-Kaohsiung county’s Liouguei Township. Believe it or not, Pastor Yang passed away at the age of 105, only one month following his wife’s death. These two had a very BLESSED life that impacted so many.

This HOME has helped more than 1,000 orphans since its establishment, including foot and mouth painter Yang En-dian (楊恩典) and 107_bTaiwanese singer Rachel Liang (梁文音), What a beautiful story of God’s love! These children have come from ALL kinds of circumstances. Some were abandoned, such as Yang En-dian (Grace Yang), while others were taken from abusive home situations. HOWEVER because of God’s LOVE, these children not only have found a place to live, they THRIVE in this loving HOME. If you could only join us for a visit, you P003would be awed to see these wonderful kids and the LOVE that they express..

At this MOTHER”S DAY celebration, give PRAISE to our FATHER IN HEAVEN who has sent forth HIS angels of mercy to show God’s precious love to these young people. Pray for The Christian Mountain Children’s Home as they continue to minister throughout southern Taiwan. Click on the video below for a brief visit with the Children Mountain’s Children’s Home.

URGENT PRAYER

village ministry

PRAY WITH US:  Hokkien Harvest has been blessed to have work in many ministry fields. Some workers live in large cities, some more rural, while some are engaged in ministry in fishing villages. From East Asia, SE Asia and across our world, God has his people working to share HIS love with Hokkien people who have never heard.

We especially ask you to join us in prayer for a lady in one of our fishing villages in SE Asia. two years ago because of deep depression, she tried to commit suicide. Hokkien workers in that area have been loving her and share God’s love. Pray for a miracle of healing in the life of this wife and mother. She has connected with our church there; however, she continues to cling to idols. Recently, she once again has fallen into depression and is struggling.

Join us in prayer for this friend. Pray for her husband and children to also come to know God’s peace and grace. Pray for new believers in this community to also reach out and give support and encouragement.

We praise God for all the answers to prayer that we have seen in the lives of these people. Also pray with us that a full time co-worker be called to this ministry. There are so many needs on this island. Pray for a Spiritual Awakening that will extend to other people groups.

What a journey!
