Hokkien Testimony #60

Hokkien Testimony #60

Today we welcome you to the 60th testimony in our Hokkien Harvest series. Each week we have different people from different churches share their stories with us. Today Pastor James Lim interviews Preacher Huang Lili (Jo Jo). As we look at life, we indeed are much like a blade of grass, but God does not abandon us or look at us as insignificant or unimportant. He takes care of us. When we search for him he makes sure we find him.  This is much like a person who knocks on a door, and then God opens it. Preacher Huang has a wonderful husband and precious daughter. Let’s listen and learn about her personal Hokkien story. An English summary is also provided below.

Preacher Huang Lili (Jo Jo)’s Testimony:

Today we are so happy to welcome Preacher Jo Jo to share her testimony. God has definitely led her in her life and we look forward to hearing her story.

The first time that I attended church was in my first year of middle school when I went with some of my classmates. I was dealing with some heavy burdens in my life. I actually didn’t know anything about church, so after the first time that I attended and returned home I didn’t say anything to my parents about it. However, people from the church came to visit my home, so the secret was out.  And well, my father was very angry about it. In fact, he just drove them or threw them out. Then he just slammed the door behind them. Then he directed me to go kneel down and worship our idols. That made a very strong scary impression on me. But I still had a desire to search for the true God.

There was a Buddhist temple not far from our house and during the week I would daily go there searching for peace. I read through the Buddhist books searching for answers. However, the more I read I realized that he was not God. Instead he was a teacher who wanted to educate people. So I continued searching for the true God. After my third year in high school I was passionate about my faith and followed the teachings of Buddhism. I did this for about 10 years, a pretty long time. During this time my father’s foot was injured, but we discovered that this Buddhist religion was unable to give him any help. So at this time I changed from Buddhism into Taoism. I realized that Buddha was just a teacher, not someone who could really heal my father. I was always very serious about my faith, but as I looked at this Taoist religion and the gods there, I was very disappointed and really miserable. So I left Taoism as well. One thing to know is that worshiping these gods and idols also required a lot of money. As I looked at the situation, I had already spent a lot of money, but I had no peace. Many people think that if they are fervent in their worship then they will have peace and also be blessed financially, but that was not true either. I was very disappointed.

I continued searching for the True God until I once again went to a church. So at this point my father was so upset that he wanted to sever his relationship with me. As far as our relationship was concerned I really never raised my voice when I spoke to him, but this time I did and asked him to go to church with me. I got his attention. At this point if someone really did want to disown their child, they would announce that in the newspaper. However, my father told me that he would go to church with me.

My father was not afraid to go to church, but it was strange for him. For me, compared to my first time, this time it was a very joyful experience. The speaker that day was a foreigner who was using English. My father is Hokkien, so I translated for him. However, a lot of things the pastor said I had no idea how to translate. So what I understood I translated. If I didn’t understand, I just left that out and didn’t say anything. Amazingly enough, when the pastor asked for a response, my father was very moved and raised his hand. I asked him if he understood what the pastor said, and he said that he didn’t but he was moved to tears and raised his hand. The pastor requested those who raised their hands to come to the front, so we went forward. So at that point, three in our family accepted Christ as our Savior.  I felt like a huge rock had been taken off of me, and I could relax. I had a smile on my face.

When I returned home and told my husband he said, “Really”. He considered himself a Christian. He thought I was playing a trick on him. God is truly amazing. My husband had not gone to church in a long time, so I invited him to go with me. He was very cold to the idea and even though my parents were going with me, he didn’t feel the need to go. He carried the name Christian, but that was about it because it had no influence in his life. So it was a real blessing to see my husband come back into the church and truly follow Christ.

Before we end this interview, I would also like to share with you one more testimony when as a result of a car accident I injured my neck. I was injured as I said, and I couldn’t turn my head at all. I could only look in front of me. I went to see a lot of doctors and specialists, but no doctor had an answer for my problem. So an orthopedic specialist told me that this was not going to change, and I would have this problem for the rest of my life. Then I heard that there was a gospel meeting. Originally I didn’t think I would go, but I felt the Holy Spirit wanted me there. I did attend and after about thirty minutes, a missionary saw me and directed me to come forward. He prayed for me. At that time I just felt that I needed to completely turn this over to God. Since doctors gave me no help or hope, I felt that I must take it to God. After he prayed for me I returned to my seat. However, I heard someone behind me call my name and told me to turn around and I did. There was no one there, and I started to cry.  I was healed. So from this point forward my life has really changed a lot. As a Christian we do have more faith.

Pastor Lim:

This is the end of today’s program, and we thank Preacher Jo Jo Ng for coming and sharing her story from childhood through her adult years with us. She searched for God and she found him.  God not only healed her, but also led her entire family to come to Christ. After hearing her story, maybe you too are saying that this story is amazing and this God is definitely the true God, so you may also want to accept Jesus. You can do that. Just follow me as I pray. To ask Jesus into your heart, you too can find this true God and he will change your life. Follow me in prayer.

Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you. You came to this earth to save me. At this time I ask you to forgive me of my sin. Use your precious blood to cleanse me from my sin. Lord Jesus I ask you to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. I know that you are the true God and can change my life. You can heal me from my sicknesses and lead me in the coming days of my life. You will also give me eternal hope. I am so grateful. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

The Lord bless you.

Hokkien Testimony #59

Hokkien Testimony #59

Today we welcome you to the 59th testimony in our Hokkien Harvest series. Each week we have different people from different churches share their stories with us. Today Pastor James Lim interviews Sister Iap Giok Chin. Let’s listen and learn about her personal Hokkien story. An English summary is also provided below.

Sister Iap Giok Chin’s Testimony:

As Pastor Lim introduced this program, he reminded us that God loves all the people of the world. He doesn’t show preference for those that have more money, are more beautiful or maybe thinner or good or bad, but instead he is a loving God and reaches out to all of us.

Let me share my story with you. When I was four months old I was cared for by a foster mother. My mother also gave birth to seven other children and I was the oldest. It was hurtful to think that your mother didn’t love you. I was actually two years old before she was able to care for me. There was a lot to do around the house and I as the oldest daughter had a lot to do. Especially if it was a holiday or special time, then much needed to be done to prepare for times like that. And since we lived in a rural area, we had to burn wood in order to cook or prepare anything. As soon as we had finished eating we had chores to do. So as you can see, in a rural area like this I had no opportunity to go to school. Oh, I dreamed of going to school but that was not easy in a rural setting like this. It was difficult watching other children go off to school. However, I did have an opportunity to study outside of the regular school situation. The class was taught in Japanese. My mother felt that the most important thing for us girls was to learn to cook and take care of the house. So I’m a pretty good cook.

My father introduced me to the son of one of his friends and we were married. Since my mother showed no love for me she was not involved. So for me, getting married I thought was like a reprieve from the life that I lived. Yet, after marriage I had a child and discovered that it was the same kind of life. Growing up I was helping take care of others in the family, and after marriage it was more of the same.

Growing up I would follow my family as they worshipped idols. However, I really didn’t know much about these gods. I couldn’t tell you their names and anything about them. So my experience in worshipping idols was going before them with my problems and hoping for peace. Then I would do that all over again. Believe it or not, I was in my 50’s before I became a Christian. I guess some may think this is old, but Pastor Lim reminded me that this indeed a blessing in my life and the life of my family.

Earlier some of my brothers and sisters had Christian friends who introduced them to Jesus. So they went to church and their family trusted in Jesus. For myself, I had attended church but couldn’t really tell you much about it. My friend introduced church to me. Later on one occasion, I did not feel well and I grabbed a taxi and asked if he knew a doctor or someone who could help me. The driver told me about an Auntie he had driven who went to a church where they had healing services. She had a problem with her foot and went several times and was completely healed. After hearing this I decided to go and try it out for myself. I asked him if he could find out the location and time so that I could attend. He contacted that Auntie and she said that the service began at 7 o’clock. I asked my friend to go with me.

I was impressed with the church building and the people were very loving. I remembered how it was when I went to the temple to worship. It was not the same. And you know what, we don’t have to go from this god to that, we just pray to the Lord and he hears our prayer. When I went to the church my husband did not oppose me. Our family was more open. If we had any problems, like my hand or my husband’s surgery, people from the church would come and pray for us. These weren’t mean people, they were very loving. So that’s how we connected with the church.

Amazingly enough, even my foster mother accepted Christ. Growing up she had hit me and was very harsh with me, so when I heard that she had accepted Jesus I was glad because I could see a change in her. She actually accepted Christ before I did. After I became a Christian, my husband followed me and accepted Jesus as well. He saw the change in me and how Jesus could change our family. Before I became a Christian, I put emphasis on the foods that I ate, but food doesn’t change a person. Jesus changed me. Even greater is the peace, joy and love that Jesus gives and fills our home with the same. Jesus changes us and our personality is not the same. Prior to accepting Christ I had a temper, but Jesus changed all of that. Formerly I didn’t have Christ’s love, so when children came along, I had no patience and things got worse. Like Pastor James said, without Jesus we are just busy with life running in circles with seemingly no purpose.

Growing up I was busy with my siblings. After marriage I was busy with my own children. And now if I didn’t have Jesus my life would be empty. So a little over two years ago I accepted Jesus. During these two years the Lord has given me and my family peace and joy that brings happiness. If our heart has peace then we are filled with joy. When asked if my husband was ready to be baptized, he said that he wanted to wait until he retired. So that’s what we did. Since our family has followed the Lord, life is much different. We always look forward to going to church to worship and sing with the people there.

Jesus has changed us. My husband was willing to let go of his business in order to go to church and worship. When we focus on Christ and with our whole heart go and worship him, he will fill us with his peace and joy. At this time my heart’s desire is for my fourth child to accept Christ. We are praying for our child’s salvation. We don’t what to apply any pressure, but just pray and encourage our family, so that all will come to Christ.

Pastor Lim:

Thank you Sister Iap for being with us today. After hearing her testimony we know that the Lord is good. As we look at our past we may have had a difficult upbringing; however, the Lord shows his care for us. As in her story, she had a difficult childhood, but later she and almost all of her family have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This is a blessing and you too can have this same blessing. You can tell him that you desire to put your trust in him and he will come into your heart. I believe you want this salvation, and as the Bible says, then you and your family can all be saved. Do you desire to accept Jesus? If you do, then follow me as I lead us in prayer. Sentence my sentence you can follow after me.

Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you. You are our Lord and Savior and you love us. I thank you because you want to forgive us of our sin. At this time please come into my heart, forgive me of my sin and use your precious blood to cleanse me. I also invite you into my heart to be my Lord and Savior and lead me in my life. Allow me to know you and believe in you. I also ask you to allow my family to trust in you, because you are the real and living God. Thank you, Jesus. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

The Lord bless you.

Hokkien Testimony #58

Hokkien Testimony #58

Today we welcome you to the 58th testimony in our Hokkien Harvest series. Each week we have different people from different churches share their stories with us. Today Pastor James Lim interviews Brother Lim Bun Han, the elder son of last week’s testimony, Lim Bi Giok. Bun Han’s testimony is very moving and once again shows that Jesus transforms lives.  Whether we are considered good or bad people, God loves us. Let’s listen and learn about his amazing Hokkien story. An English summary is also provided below.

Brother Lim Bun Han’s Testimony:

Before we begin today, we want to summarize some of the story from Lim Bi Giok’s (Bun Han’s mother) perspective.

When Bun Han was young I worshiped local gods and prayed for him to change. He was always in a lot of trouble and no matter what I did he didn’t change. I was so confused and tried to find help from my local religion, but they were too busy to see me. And when I went to someone else in authority, they too were too busy to help me. I didn’t know what to do. It was at this time that the Pastor and his wife came by my shop. I did not know them. The pastor told me that God had directed him to come to this shop. He asked him if he could just have 5 minutes to talk with me. I couldn’t believe how amazing this was. After I shared with them, they prayed for my son.

I went to their church and later told my mother. She opposed what I was doing, disagreed with me and didn’t want me to have anything to do with them. She wanted me to return to Buddhism. It was a difficult time. One thing that I am so aware of is that we as parents must closely watch our children. If we don’t carefully watch our children, it is so easy for them to get into trouble and go down the wrong path. It is easy to hang around the wrong people and start doing wrong things. This is our family’s story.

Lim Bun Han

As a child my younger brother and I were left alone a lot of the time. So since our parents were at work, we would either spend time at home playing or go out of the house and find something to do.  I had plenty of time to do my homework, but most of my time I spent playing around and doing what I wanted to do. As a boy I didn’t want to sit for long. I would rather be out doing something. When I started Middle School I spent more time playing ball and hanging out with friends. I could play outside, have a good time and do my studies too. However, when I started my second year in Middle School I learned from those around me, and started to fight. So I not only was wrapped up in fighting, I also started smoking and was introduced to drugs as well. So when I would get high on drugs I would have an even greater desire to fight someone.

When I first got involved in fighting and drugs, my mother wasn’t aware. But when she began to notice the bad changes in me, then she knew for sure that I was using drugs. I tried to tell her not to worry. However, things got worse and later when I was fighting I was arrested. While I was imprisoned they tried to educate me to do better.  They also provided worship times for us. I actually met Christian friends in prison who invited me to go to the worship time with him. I had heard my mother speak of Jesus but I didn’t really believe any of that and didn’t pay much attention to what was said at the time.

Inside of prison it is easy to say that you have changed or won’t repeat your bad behavior. However, when I was released I reconnected with my former friends, and it was easy to just fall back into my former bad behavior. The truth is that if you do return to your former habits, you are often worse than you were before. That was true for me. I would get high on drugs and get in fights, but I couldn’t even remember doing some of the things that I did. Truthfully speaking, when I took drugs I was afraid and somewhat paranoid. I had several car accidents, but since I was doing drugs I couldn’t even remember what happened. The cars were wrecked badly, but I was okay. That is totally amazing. God protected me.

The second time I was arrested for assault and was imprisoned in the Changi Prison in Singapore. That was a serious offense and I was fearful and didn’t want to do that anymore. However, just because I felt that way or said I would change did not mean I had the power to change my life. Only Jesus can transform lives. So when I was released I did the exact same thing and started using drugs again.

So how did I change? One night when I was in my bedroom a bright image appeared. A voice spoke and told me that I was a wicked person. I asked who he was and he told me that he was the eternal God. I asked again and he told me that he was Jesus. I was scared to death and ran and told my mother what had happened. She asked me what in the world was going on with me. It was as though I had lost my mind and was talking crazy. However, this was a very important experience for me. Jesus was with me for the next 40 days helping me. The second day Jesus told me that he was there to change me and give me a new life.  Even though I was willing to put my life into his hands, I was really miserable. The third day Jesus wanted me to give up all the addictions I had:  smoking, drinking, and drugs. He took it all away from me. So during this 40 day period Jesus little by little changed me, both my small and large problems. He led me through a complete transformation. After these 40 days I indeed came through as a new person in Christ.

After Christ transformed my life I was a different person. I cared about other people like I never had before. Jesus gave me a vision that I was to share the Gospel and lead people to Christ. This would enable people to experience a new life just as I was transformed. I had more love for people. My attitude toward my mother, family and friends was not the same as before. I currently am studying in the seminary preparing to be a minister of the gospel.

Pastor Lim shares:

Brothers and Sisters, today through this testimony we see that our Lord is an amazing Lord.  The impossible suddenly becomes possible. So today no matter what state you are in, maybe rotten and very bad, if Jesus is in your heart you can be completely changed. You can do your best to change, but if you just depend on yourself, it isn’t enough. Only Jesus has the power to transform lives like this.

Jesus we know that today through this program you have revealed yourself as the true God. You are God and have been in existence Yesterday, Today and Forever.  I know that you want to come into my heart and give me a new life, make me into a new person and give me a new beginning.

Brothers and Sisters, if you have this kind of desire in your heart, then please follow me as I pray and allow Jesus to come into your heart and become like Lim Bun Han. Then your life will experience a huge transformation. Do you believe this? If you do, then follow me in prayer.

Lord Jesus, I thank you because you came to this earth to save the people of this world. At this time I acknowledge that in the past I have done many wrong and bad things. Jesus please use your precious blood to cleanse my sin. At this time please come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. From today forward I declare that I am a new creation. My past is gone and now all is new. Trusting in you I know that I will have a new life and a new beginning. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to attend a church nearby your house so that you can mature in your faith and understanding of Christ. May God bless you.

Hokkien Testimony #57

Hokkien Testimony #57

Today we welcome you to the 57th testimony in our Hokkien Harvest series. Each week we have different people from different churches share their stories with us. Today Pastor James Lim interviews Sister Lim Bi Giok. Her testimony is very moving and once again shows that Jesus loves the people of this world. Whether we are considered good or bad people, God loves us. Let’s listen and learn about her Hokkien story. An English summary is also provided below.

Lim Bi Giok’s Testimony:

When I was young, as the older sister, I took care of the younger ones in the family. There was an incident that definitely impacted my life. For two years I lived in another place. At the time my younger brother was only five. He went to sleep but then he couldn’t walk at all. So we immediately took him to the hospital. That incident made a real impression on me.

It was also during this time that I began to hear people talking about Jesus and sharing the Gospel. I heard that no matter what problem you had you could tell it to Jesus and he was there to help. Silly as it may seem my father would come and give us some money so that we could buy ice cream. However, one day he didn’t show up. So in my simple faith, I prayed to God and told him that I needed money so that I could buy ice cream. Amazingly enough I opened up my purse and there was money in it for me to buy ice cream. So from childhood I had this simple belief in God, and God’s love never left me. After two years we left this place, and my mother would not allow me to go to church. My mother worshiped a lot of different idols. It didn’t matter what idol it was, she was willing to add it to her other idols that she worshiped. She would take me with her to worship in the local temples and forbid me to become a Christian.

I would often pass by a chapel, and an elderly person there would often offer me a drink of water. Even today I still have a mental impression of her kindness and welcoming smile. She would tell her daughter to get me a drink of water. I had never had a drink quite like this. My family didn’t have the money to provide anything special, so this was a treat for me. The lady would also share with me about Jesus. Pastor Lim also knows of this lady, Mrs. Lee. She also took me into the church. As Pastor Lim says, even today he still thinks of her.

Time passes very quickly and before I knew it I was in middle school. It was during this time that I had the opportunity to secretly attend church without my mother knowing about it. I did share this with my grandmother. I actually prayed to God to help me with my studies. I asked for him to bless me in my studies but with no large request, just to make the grade. However, God blessed me beyond my request and I tested higher than I ever expected. Testing well really made my mother sit up and take notice. She was very pleased.

I have to admit that through my life I have had some tough storms. My marriage failed and as a result I turned toward another religion and began to search for answers. Also my oldest son, who was not a Christian, really challenged me as he turned to drugs, alcohol, and gambling and all that is related to these vices. My second son accepted Jesus and was well behaved. He didn’t do things like this. So the teachings that Jesus has given to us in the Bible for our families really are good and we need to follow them. Eventually my elder son got into a fight and ended up in prison. I was so nervous about all of this. I sought out a pastor and his wife and shared with them. They prayed for me. They immediately arranged for a pastor to visit my son. They began to work to get my son released. It was during this time that I drew near to Christ. My son was in and out of prison and in and out of trouble, but the Lord gave me the strength to love and pray for him.

He was also in a bad car accident, but not hurt at all. Amazing. My mother tried her best to get me to return to Buddhist worship, but I told her that God had protected my son many times and I knew this to be true. Year after year I prayed for the Lord to protect him. I prayed for ten years and then began to see a change in my son. Today he is already in seminary and about to begin ministry as a preacher. This is a HUGE transformation in my family.

Before we close out this program I also want to share about my parents. My father noticed the transformation in my life and family and he wanted to go to church with me. However, my mother was not willing for him to join us.  She opposed it and expressed her feelings. However, this did not stop my father. He went to church and accepted Jesus. Jesus transformed his life . . . no more smoking, drinking or gambling. So this was evidence of God’s love in our family.

So now my prayer request is for my mother to accept Jesus as her Savior. I truly believe that one day my mother will accept Jesus. As Pastor Lim reminded us, the Bible tells us that as we accept Christ and our family too can come to Jesus (Acts 16:31).

Pastor Lim shares:

Today our program has come to an end. We all know that in our lives we have ups and downs. However, the most important thing to know is that in times of difficulty we can call on the name of Jesus. So at any time in your life if you face problems, you can call on Jesus and he definitely will help you. At this time I would like to give our listeners an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ. You may be thinking that you would definitely like to accept Jesus. It is really quite simple. Just follow me sentence by sentence as I lead us in prayer. Jesus will come into your heart and change your life. Follow me in prayer.

Lord Jesus, I thank you because you are our Lord and Savior. The gods that I have worshiped cannot save me. Only you can give me salvation. So at this time I would like to invite you to come into my heart to be my Lord and Savior, to forgive me of my sin and provide for me a new beginning that will solve the problems that I have. Thank you, Jesus. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Today we have heard Lim Bi-Giok’s testimony. However, we want you to know that next week we have an even more exciting story for you. Her son, Lim Bun Han will be sharing his testimony of how God transformed his life. So you will not want to miss this opportunity. We hope that next week you will once again join us.

May the Lord bless you.

Hokkien Testimony #56

Hokkien Testimony #56

Today we welcome you to the 56th testimony in our Hokkien Harvest series. Each week we have different people from different churches share their stories with us. Today Pastor James Lim interviews a family and shares the testimony of Sister Tsai Chun Lan. Let’s listen and learn about her Hokkien story. An English summary is also provided below.

Pastor Lim:

Today we have a number of family members with us so our program is a lot more festive than usual. Our main focus today is around Tsai Chun Lan’s testimony. She hasn’t been a Christian very long; however, the change in her life was quite dynamic. So join with us as we hear about her story.

Sister Tsai Chun Lan’s Story:

Let me begin by sharing a little about my family. My mother was a devout Buddhist and very active in her religion. At this time in her life she had never been inside a church building. The first time that she did go to church was when our older sister took her to church with her. However, the church was an English church and my mother couldn’t understand English. As Pastor Lim pointed out, my mother was really more curious to see what this was all about since she had never attended. To see a couple like my parents leave Buddhism and become Christians is definitely not an easy thing. My father first wanted to accept Jesus Christ and he also wanted all the idols removed from the house. However, my mother disagreed and opposed that. She wondered what her Buddhist acquaintances would think and how they would respond to her. So my mother wouldn’t dare accept Jesus. So if people prayed for her and made any kind of gesture like this toward her, she would chant things from her Buddhist religion. So without a doubt she opposed accepting Jesus as her Savior.

When my father made the decision to remove all the idols from the house, my mother was against it. However, in our house my father was the head and he let her know that when he said the idols would be removed, then that was the final decision. The idols were removed. So how did my mother come to Christ? My mother saw the change in my father and that’s what led her to Jesus. My father’s health had not been very good, and he spent a lot of time seeing doctors. Finally, it was so bad that the doctor told us that we needed to prepare the family because he was near death. My mother heard this and believe it or not she called us to pray to Jesus, and she too called out to Jesus. That very day that we prayed, my father woke up. My mother told us that she had continually prayed to Buddha and asked for his life to be saved, but this never happened. She saw the difference when she called out to Jesus. My father and mother were baptized at the same time. This was definitely not an easy decision, because she was severing ties with people in her Buddhist faith and friends. This was a real sacrifice on her part, because we all want friends, so this was not easy for her. Yet, in the past seven years we see the dramatic change in her life and the blessings that God has given.

Pastor Lim also asked Irene, their niece, to share because Tsai Chun Lan also invited Irene’s mother and father to church. In one of our previous interviews, we actually interviewed her father who played basketball for Singapore. You may remember that. Today my mother likes to visit people and share with them about Christ. My mother really didn’t have any real friends and was somewhat lost. Most of her friends had already passed away. My Aunt told her about Jesus. So when she accepted Jesus and entered the church, she found that she had a lot of friends. So my mother has told everyone that she knows about Jesus. Surrounding neighbors, relatives, etc. have all been told about Jesus. Whenever she sees or talks with someone she wants them to know that this life in Jesus is really great. Early on she was really shy and didn’t share, but after she received Jesus and was baptized the Holy Spirit has given her the courage and passion to share about Jesus. Pastor Lim humorously said that her fear of losing face was baptized with her and now she loves to share about Jesus. She also spends time serving others. However, this is not the only change. The communication at home with children and family members also grew deeper. She also spent time each day praying for all of them. Whether she was about to eat or getting ready to take her medicine, she stopped and prayed. Prayer was an important part of her life.

When she went to see her doctor and to get her medicine refilled, her doctor told her that she didn’t need it any more. Her blood pressure was normal. It was amazing and definitely a work of the Lord. However, there came a time when she suddenly passed away peacefully. We were not prepared for it, but we know that she went to be with Jesus. At the time of her funeral, the pastor just told us to look toward the sky. As I looked, it was amazing. There was a bright light that came across the sky. A dark cloud tried to cover it, but the bright light overtook it and then there were two bright lights. All of us standing there saw this. This was such an encouragement and comfort for all of us. To us this reflected a sign of the Heavenly Father’s love and care.

Let me share with you a dream that I as the older sister dreamed. I dreamed that I saw my aunt in heaven and she was holding hands and walking with my uncle. Formerly my uncle was missing a foot, but in my dream his foot was not missing. He had on a nice suit of clothes, and my aunt had beautiful long hair. In my dream they were also singing a Hokkien song, Hold My Hand. When I awoke I was so happy because the two of them were together. As Pastor Lim said, the Lord really does hold our hands and will take us to Heaven. After accepting Jesus as our Savior, our journey in this life really does change. This is something that we Christians can rejoice in and enjoy. It doesn’t matter what we face in life, whether good or bad, the Lord is real and he walks through this with us.

As you can tell, this family really did love their mother. In the seven years after she accepted Jesus, her life was dramatically different and much more worthwhile and meaningful. Our life does have purpose; however, when someone in the family passes away it is a difficult thing for us. Our lives are temporary, but heaven is a real blessing and a hope for us.

Pastor Lim shares:

Before we close out our program today I want to give our guests an opportunity to share about leading parents to Christ. I know you have told me that you prayed for your parents and that is so important. As you said, that you too came from a Buddhist background, and for you to come to Christ was amazing and a real blessing. And it is also a blessing that as family members came to Christ, they would pray that their other family members would also accept Jesus. So prayer is an essential part of leading our families to Christ.

It’s possible that in our listening audience there are also people who have parents who are not yet Christians. Don’t give up, but continue to pray. We believe that the Lord will continue to provide opportunities for them to know about Jesus. The Bible tells us that when if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ that we AND our family can also come to know Christ. This is a true blessing.

Our program for today has come to an end, but before we close I want to lead us in prayer. There may be people listening who admit that this Jesus is really great and you would also like to have this blessing in your life. If you would like to accept Jesus as your Savior, all you need to do is to follow me in prayer. Repeat each sentence after me.

Lord Jesus, I thank you. You are my Lord and you love me. At this time I admit that I am a sinner. I beseech you to forgive my sin and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Because of you I can have love. Because of you I can change. My life will have more meaning and value. Jesus I love you. You came to this world and died for me to give me a new life. This new life will allow me to be with the Heavenly Father for eternity. So after I accept Jesus I know that someday I will leave this world and will be with you. I am a person with hope and joy. Thank you, Jesus. And it is in Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Brothers and Sisters, if you desire to know more about your faith, we encourage you to look for a church near you. As you worship together, the pastors and church leaders can assist you in your growth to learn more about the Bible and the truth about Jesus. They can also assist you in your troubles and struggles in life that may hold you in bondage.

May God bless you.
