Each year Hokkien Harvest Singapore has prepared a month long daily prayer guide to lead us through the 7th Lunar Month (Ghost Month) which began on August 19th and will end on September 16. This period of time is a real struggle for many Hokkien people who cling to traditional ideas that the gates of Hell are opened and hungry ghosts are roaming the earth looking for raise havoc, harm and even kill people. It is a very scary time for so many.
Last Tuesday we experienced a remarkable and historic event. Hokkien Harvest zoomed together internationally to celebrate, worship and pray together in order to kick off this month long prayer emphasis. There were about 120 people who attended. How exciting!

differently. This horrific earthquake required immediate response. Christians from all over the island had already organized an emergency response effort. So when the earthquake hit, the emergency teams sprung into action. Our team composed of both missionaries and local partners was asked to serve in central Taiwan at the center of the quake. It was so devastating, but in the middle of this horror people thanked us in such special ways. They said that they appreciated gifts and help that came from outside, but they were especially touched that we “pitched our tents” and lived among them. This was a long term rebuilding project to assist these precious people, and our tents were pitched right next to their tents. Precious days.
He is living in our hearts today, and he calls us to LIVE OUT OUR LIVES among the people where we live. Do we have to ask if there are needs? No way! These are days of precious opportunities to love and care for others.
