Celebrate Recovery Summit

CR3CR2

The Celebrate Recovery Summit begins TODAY, July 30th and is a 2 day event ending tomorrow, July 31. We have discovered that many times when people hear CELEBRATE RECOVERY that immediately assume that we are talking about drug or other related addictions. WRONG! CR uses the terms hurts, habits and hangups. This is a great opportunity to join in a healthy and safe environment to grow as people . . . to grow as believers . . . and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves in a caring community. What happens at CR stays at CR!

Why would I be posting this on the Hokkien Harvest Blog site? Because this is international and also includes groups from East and SE Asia. Please pray for speakers as they share their lives with those who attend online. Pray too for every persona involved, because we all have a story and we ALL have issues. Pray that God will bring freedom where freedom is needed. Pray for those who are in bondage to hurts, habits and or hangups will have new beginnings that are life changing.

We are so grateful for the worldwide staff for Celebrate Recovery. This is just one more opportunity that God uses to speak into our lives.

Robert and I along with a third staff person, Cheryl, will be joining online as well.

At last count, I noticed that there are already more than 13,000 signed up for this event. How exciting is that. We have great expectations from our GREAT GOD.

Promise Keeper!

We definitely live in a very complicated world, and at times I really don’t know who or what to believe. Promises are made, statements thrown out to us that often prove invalid —- just lies. So knowing that something is a sure thing, for me is priceless.

For a number of years we have asked for you to pray for one of our partnership ministries on a fishing village, PK, in SE Asia. We could share so many stories of people who have come to Christ, resources provided, a new building renovated, and stories of ministry opportunities to love the people on this island. They are all very touching.

Well, this week we received a video sharing that they have restarted live worship at their building. As we watched, we were so touched. Several years ago when we traveled to the img_1553island, the music ministry, preaching, food preparation . . . well, you name it . . . were all led by partners from the mainland churches. Every week they were diligent to prepare, make the trip, lead ministry, spend the night and take the boat back home the next morning. However, as we watched this video we saw local believers who are now leading worship, handling the computer, preparing food, etc. We often hear the words — THE WORKERS ARE IN THE HARVEST. Where are our future workers going to come from? God promises that his word WILL NOT return void. People come to Christ, and God calls them into service. God does keep his promises. He is a PROMISEKEEPER.

How exciting is that! We ask you to pray. You did and local believers shared God’s love. And NOW we have new workers in the HARVEST. Check HERE or the video below to see this most recent worship on PK island.

Please continue to pray for the work on PK island.

Pray for God to call out more workers into HIS HARVEST.

Pray for God’s light to shine brightly on this island and draw people to HIMSELF.

Pray too for a new ministry on PS island — resources, workers, open hearts

THE CHALLENGE

accept challenge

2020 is definitely a year filled with so many different challenges. However, in the middle of it all, Jesus never said —- “Well, since these are tough times, just lay low and hold back”. His commandments and teachings never change, right?! People need the Lord.

In SE Asia they are challenged with the same virus that we all face. challengeThey are challenged by surrounding people who are not friendly to their religious beliefs. They are challenged by governments that desire to suppress them. They too face economic and health issues.

HOWEVER, in the middle of this pandemic our partners in SE Asia are beginning a new challenge2church in another fishing village, KS. Needs never go away. People need help. Are there challenges?

Of course there are challenges, but in that part of the world they don’t ask if they can or not.

They ask how are we going to get it done?!

Pray with us for this new work —

  1. Pray that needed resources for renting a storefront will be provided
  2. Pray for open hearts among the people in KS
  3. Pray for workers in the harvest
  4. Pray for courage, wisdom, joy and strength as our partners add another ministry point.

NO MATTER WHAT

Have you ever been mistreated, dishonored, abused or hated by someone? What did you do? As a child several times I had trauma and abuse that was unjust and unfair. I have had to live with that. If we are really honest, many of us can share similar tragedies.

As a follower of Christ, I am challenged as I face issues like this in my life. On my own personal plane, I want to strike back and attack. Now, don’t get me wrong . . . when unlawful things have taken place, people must face the consequences of their actions. However, for ME . . . how do I, personally, handle these happenings? That seems to be a current issue that many of us face.

just love wordsAmong Hokkien people, there are so many stories of abuse, injustice, persecution, crime, gang activity, family dysfunction, as well as other hurts. How do we as human beings handle these issues? For ME, I really cling to Jesus. HE is my hero. HE asked God to forgive the people who were killing him. He tells me to love EVEN my enemies. AND then HE tells us that people in the world will know that we are HIS followers by how we love others. These are life challenges for me, but I BELIEVE. I BELIEVE that these precious words hold secrets just waiting for us. I pray that the worlds of my mouth, the meditations of my heart, and my life actions will be acceptable in God’s sight.

East and SE Asia believers face many challenges as mentioned above including persecution. Pray that the LOVE of Christ shown through our partners and these Christ followers will change lives, bring freedom and show people a NEW way to live in freedom.

Our daughter, Lisa, just introduced me to a new song by Kelly Clarkson. Her words are powerful and so true.

♥ LOVE IS NOT A BECAUSE. IT’S A NO MATTER WHAT

‘I Dare You To Love.’

There’s a wolf that preys on a world
That strays so far from the Garden (oh)
And just like your own
Every heart you know seems cold and hardened (oh)
You may not have the stage, but you still have a voice
You may not have the strength, but if you have a choice
I dare you to love
Oh, I dare you to love
Even if you’re hurt and you can only see the worst
Even if you think it’s not enough
Oh, I dare you to love
We’re all full of hope, tryna stay afloat, tryna save one another
People let you drown ’cause they don’t know how to stay above water (oh)
When they’re too broken to know what they’ve put you through
Do the only thing that you’d want done to you
Oh, I dare you to love (dare you to love)
Oh, I dare you to love (I dare you to love)
Even if you’re hurt and you can only see the worst (oh)
Even if you think it’s not enough
Oh, I dare you to love
I dare you to love, oh
You may not have the stage, but you still have a voice
You may not have the strength, but if you have a choice
I dare you to love, even if you can’t
No, I dare you to love
Oh, even if you’re hurt
And you can only see the worst (even if you only)
Even if you think it’s not enough
Oh, I, I dare you
I dare you
Oh, I, I dare you to love
