Giving Thanks!

Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated in the United States and Canada. However, you don’t have to be in these two countries to celebrate and be thankful. Worldwide we see so many opportunities for people to give thanks to God and express our gratitude. The Hok-Tek Baptist Church in Kaohsiung, Taiwan has a beautiful tradition. During the year they connect with the local government to assist families in their community. This has become a beautiful ministry. So at this time of the year, then a big Thanksgiving Feast is given and church families as well as those who live in the community and have been helped during the year come together to celebrate. It is a party — FOOD, FUN, GAMES, SONGS . . . you name it. This is such a sweet time to love on these families.

Some families are barely making it financially. Others are challenged with physical issues. Some families are dysfunctional and broken, and desperately need love and care. Whatever the situation, God loves them deeply. Many of the members in Hok-Tek church also have family members who are not yet believers. What an opportunity to love on all of these people.

Pray with us for families in the Hok-Tek Baptist Church as they minister to each other and beyond. Pray especially for these new friends in the Hok-Tek community. Pray for open hearts and opportunities to lead these people to know the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We, from Hokkien Harvest International, wish you a blessed Thanksgiving and a 2021 filled with God’s richest blessings.

Good Things Happening!

Last week we shared a little about senior adults. Well, there are good things happening for sure. Pastor SC is just one of many testimonies of what God is doing in SE Asia. Thanks so much for cheering for the ministry there. Please keep them in your prayers as they too battle the Corona Virus and seek to find ways to stay connected to people. It is especially challenging for many senior adults who may not have access to social media.

Pastor SC shared this: This morning with limited time, conducted Baptism, then follow on Lord’s Supper Ordinance for a Senior, 88yo. Could be the first n last time for her. Glory to Our Savior, Christ Jesus

What a privilege to see these precious senior adults make decisions to follow our Lord. We are so proud of our workers in East and SE Asia as they take this precious gospel to their community and beyond and bring hope to the hopeless.

Thanks for hanging in there with us, and a special thanks for the prayers of so many. God is Great and God is Good!

Precious Gold!

Surprise! Surprise! All of us are aging and getting a little older each day. However, some of us have already lived a long time. Since we, Robert and Donna, have lived in Asia for a long time, we have noticed changes over the years. Many years ago, senior adults were honored and revered and on buses and subways, the younger generation would quickly stand up to give their seat to an older person. That still happens but not quite as often as before. Things do change, and when retirement comes there are times when older people feel very unwanted and unneeded.

Senior adults really are as precious as gold. They have experience, wisdom and often times also have financial security so they may have money. They can add a lot to the lives of a church and community. In SE Asia one of our unique findings was that some people have the opportunity to retire very early, and we have seen how God has used them to bless communities. For the first time in their lives they are able to minister FULL TIME. Some of these people are our precious friends and are on call 24/7 to jump into ongoing ministry. We are privileged to work with them. They are energetic, fun and very connected with many friends in important places. That is such a blessing when starting new ministries in communities.

Pray for these teams in SE Asia as many are composed of a lot of senior adults who are active and engaged. Pray for God to call out more SENIORS to get involved in sharing God’s love to the nations. How exciting to see how God is using HIS PEOPLE, elderly, middle aged and young to bless the nations.

Join us in prayer for our Hokkien teams in SE Asia as well as East Asia as they reach into Senior Adult communities. Pray for more SENIORS to be called into reaching their community as well as the nations beyond. We are indeed all precious in God’s sight.

More Great News!

We don’t always have an update for prayers answered, but we do on this prayer request. We were so excited when our ministry partners, J & A, told us that they were going to be grandparents. They couldn’t wait, and we were just as excited. However, this little baby girl decided to enter the world much earlier than expected and she has been in the NICU for some time now.

If you remember, she was exceptionally tiny at 740 grams — BUT she’s a fighter. We prayed and she has gradually added weight and fought off challenges.

WELL, On November 2 she reached 1.8 kg and was discharged. She is a miracle bundle of God’s grace. Continue to pray for Mommy, Daddy and Baby Winbrandis.

We THANK GOD for his grace and work. We also THANK YOU for your encouragement, prayers and support.

Please continue to pray for this family as they care for Baby Winbrandis.
